Patio and Garden Awnings in Kent

At Hue House, we design, supply and install made-to-measure patio awnings for homes across Kent. The right awning turns a sun-baked patio or exposed garden terrace into somewhere you can actually sit, eat and relax, whatever the weather is doing.

Whether you want shade for summer gatherings, a cooler spot for the family or protection for your garden furniture, we will help you choose the right system for your space. Every awning is built to your exact width and projection, with manual or motorised operation.

We are an independent, family-run business with over 35 years of experience in shading. We supply premium Weinor awnings, including full cassette models that close up completely when retracted to protect the fabric from dirt and weather.

Made-to-Measure Patio Awnings for Kent Homes

Our made-to-measure patio awnings are a simple way to make your outdoor space more comfortable. They give reliable shade on bright days, cut glare through your windows and doors, and make patios, decking and garden seating areas far more usable.

Choose manual operation with a crank handle, ideal where there is no power supply, or motorised operation by remote control or smart home system. Optional wind sensors retract the awning automatically when it gets too breezy, so it stays protected even when you are out.

Every awning comes in a wide choice of fabrics, colours and frame finishes. We measure up, check your wall and recommend the right fixings. Where a standard wall fitting will not work, for example under deep soffits or where the wall cannot take the load, we use specialist awning brackets.

Not sure a patio awning is the right fit? We also install balcony awnings in Kent for smaller spaces and flats, pergola awnings for larger, more weather-resistant cover, and conservatory awnings to keep glass roofs cool.

We work with homeowners in Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Maidstone, Canterbury, Westerham, Orpington, Bromley and across the rest of Kent.

Our Patio Awning Range

We offer a wide selection of premium patio and garden awnings to suit spaces of all shapes and sizes, from compact terraces to wide family patios.

Our range includes awnings from Weinor, the German awning specialist, alongside other trusted manufacturers. You can compare and configure patio awnings online, or ask us to recommend the right model for your home.

Benefits of Patio and Garden Awnings

A well-chosen patio awning does far more than keep the sun off. Shading windows and doors from the outside is one of the most effective ways to keep rooms cool, as we explain in our guide on how to keep a conservatory cool in summer. Here are the main reasons homeowners across Kent choose an awning.

Patio Awning FAQs

How much does a patio awning cost?

Prices depend on the width, projection, type of operation and extras such as wind sensors, lighting and heating. As a guide, the awnings in our online configurator start from £1,248 ex VAT for smaller models, and larger motorised systems can be over £6,000 ex VAT. We will give you a tailored quote once we understand your space.

Do I need planning permission for a patio awning?

In most cases a retractable awning on a house does not need planning permission. Listed buildings, homes in conservation areas and some flats can be different, so check with your local council or the Planning Portal if you are unsure. We are happy to advise.

Should I choose a manual or motorised patio awning?

Manual awnings use a crank handle and are ideal where there is no power supply, like this manual Cassita II installation. Motorised awnings open at the touch of a button or through a smart home system, and can be paired with a wind sensor that retracts the awning automatically.

Can I leave my patio awning out in the rain or wind?

Our awnings use water-resistant fabric and will shelter you from light rain. They are not designed for heavy rain or strong wind, so retract them in bad weather. A wind sensor will do this for you. If you want cover that copes better with the weather, take a look at our pergola awnings.

What is a full cassette awning?

A full cassette awning, such as the Weinor Semina Life, closes into a protective case when retracted. This keeps the fabric and arms clean and dry, which helps the awning last longer and look neater on your wall.

What if my wall is not suitable for an awning?

Most walls can take an awning with standard fixings. Where there are deep soffits, exposed rafters or other obstacles, we use specialist awning brackets. We can also fit awnings on goal post style supports, like this Semina awning with goal post bracketing.

Which areas do you cover?

We install patio awnings across Kent, including Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Maidstone, Canterbury and Westerham, as well as nearby areas such as Orpington and Bromley. Get in touch to check we cover your postcode.
