Electric Awnings in Kent

An electric awning opens and closes at the touch of a button, so you can put up shade the moment the sun comes out and fold it away just as quickly. At Hue House, we design, supply and install made-to-measure electric awnings for homes across Kent.

Every awning in our Weinor range is available as a motorised version, built to your exact width and projection, with options such as integrated LED lighting, wind sensors and heaters. Motorised awnings open and close with a handheld remote, and many Weinor systems can be linked to smart home controls.

We are an independent, family-run business with over 35 years of experience, and we employ all our own fitters. We fit electric awnings across Kent, including Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Maidstone, Canterbury and Westerham, as well as Orpington, Bromley and nearby areas.

Why Choose an Electric Awning?

Easy to use every day. With no crank handle to wind, you are more likely to use your awning whenever you need it, even for an hour of afternoon sun.

Ideal for larger awnings. Our Weinor awnings are available up to 7 metres wide in a single unit, and a motor makes a wide awning effortless to open and close.

Automatic wind protection. An optional wind sensor retracts the awning automatically when it gets too breezy.

Smart home control. As well as a handheld remote, many Weinor systems can be linked to smart home controls.

Prefer to keep it simple? Manual awnings use a crank handle and suit spaces without a power supply, like this manual Cassita II installation. Compare both on our patio awnings page.

Our Electric Awning Range

All of the Weinor awnings we supply are available with motorised operation, and most can also be ordered with integrated LED lighting.

You can compare and configure awnings online and choose motorised operation, or ask us to recommend the right model for your home.

Benefits of an Electric Awning

A motorised awning makes it easy to get the most from your patio or garden, whatever the weather is doing. These are the features homeowners across Kent ask us about most.

How Our Electric Awning Service Works

We make choosing and fitting an electric awning simple:

  1. Initial consultation. We talk through your space, how you want to use it, and which controls and extras you would like.
  2. Survey and tailored design. We measure up, check your wall and fixings, and plan the power supply, as a motorised awning needs one. We help you choose the fabric, frame colour and options.
  3. Professional installation. Our own fitters install your awning and show you how to use the remote and any sensors.
  4. Aftercare support. We are here for advice long after installation. Our guide on how to clean awning fabric will help keep yours looking its best.

Electric Awning FAQs

How much does an electric awning cost?

It depends on the model, size and extras. As a guide, motorised awnings in our online configurator start from £1,816.80 ex VAT for a Weinor Topas or Smaila, and from £3,249.60 ex VAT for a motorised Weinor Kubata. Online prices are estimates and do not include installation or any bespoke brackets. We give you a formal quotation once we have completed a free site survey.

Does an electric awning need a power supply?

Yes. A motorised awning needs a power supply, so we look at this during the survey and plan the installation around it. If there is no power available, a manual awning with a crank handle is a good alternative.

How do I control an electric awning?

Motorised awnings open and close with a handheld remote, and many Weinor systems can be linked to smart home controls.

What happens if it gets windy?

An optional wind sensor retracts the awning automatically when it gets too breezy. Awnings are designed for sun shading and should be retracted in strong wind or heavy rain, and the sensor does this for you.

Can I add lighting and heating?

Yes. Most of the Weinor awnings we supply are available motorised with integrated LED lighting, and we can fit heaters below the awning, as on this Semina Life installation.

Do I need planning permission for an electric awning?

In most cases a retractable awning on a house does not need planning permission. Listed buildings, homes in conservation areas and some flats can be different, so check with your local council or the Planning Portal if you are unsure. We are happy to advise.
